A bed & breakfast for all seasons

The Summer Cottage Inn was commissioned to be built in 1867 by Samuel Harrison as a family summer vacation cottage in historical Cape May, New Jersey. It was designed and built in the Italianate style by the renowned architect Stephen Decatur Button.

The Harrisons enjoyed their summer home for only four weeks of the year. The Victoria home design offers a cupola, which can be seen on the top of the Inn. Believe it or not years ago that was considered Victorian air conditioning.

The Summer Cottage Inn is perfectly situated one block from the beach, close to the Victoria Mall and several restaurants for dining. For the past 20 years we have extended Victorian warmth, charm, and grace to our guests. Let us welcome you to your next New Jersey vacation or romantic weekend getaway to The Summer Cottage Inn.

From the outside you will first be in awe of the beautiful veranda, which offers outside dining and relaxation. Relax on the veranda’s porch rockers as you sip your morning coffee and enjoy the beautiful flowers.

As you enter the Inn you will step into the tastefully era decorated parlor complete with floor-to-ceiling pocket windows. The artfully preserved dining room invites you to the delicious and bountiful breakfast served by our Innkeeper. Here you will enjoy breakfast dining with Victorian elegance. The Harrisons only used this room for the family’s breakfast and lunch meals. Mrs. Harrison “made reservations” for dinner at the Cape May’s fine hotel dining rooms.

Our guest rooms are tastefully decorated with Victorian antiques, nostalgia pieces, and many special touches. All of the rooms have all season climate control, private bathrooms, comfortable king and queen size beds and televisions. The Inn offers Wi-Fi, bicycles, beach chairs, towels, afternoon tea and refreshments. We will gladly accommodate all of your needs.

The Summer Cottage Inn Bed and Breakfast offers the perfect year-round getaway. Treat your family to a Cape May vacation or a special someone to a romantic, relaxing retreat. We have all the modern conveniences and attention to detail to make your stay comfortable.

Please come and visit us for the best vacation experience ever!!!
